No experience

Cleaning jobs with no experience.

No cleaning experience yet? You can still apply. Experience is preferred but not always required, and “None yet” is an answer the application form accepts. What matters just as much is reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to follow checklists.

No CV needed

One form. No CV, no cover letter.

Most job listings want a CV and a cover letter before anyone talks to you. Here, the application is a single form: your location, availability, transport, the work types that interest you, and anything you want to add in your own words. That’s it. We review every application individually.

You don’t usually need qualifications to start cleaning in New Zealand either. Tahatū, the government’s career platform, notes that commercial cleaners usually learn on the job and usually don’t need specific NCEA levels. Depending on the work, a driver licence or a police check can be required.

What we look for

What matters instead of experience

ReliabilityTurning up, on time, every time. It’s the single thing that matters most in cleaning work.

Attention to detailCare about the corners nobody checks. Willingness to follow checklists matters just as much as experience.

The right to work in New ZealandRequired. You’ll confirm it in the application and it’s verified during onboarding.

Honesty about availability and transportNeither is a hard requirement, but knowing your real situation lets us see what work could actually suit you.

Getting up to speed

Training is part of the pathway.

Suitable applicants don’t get thrown in cold. The pathway runs from one application through review, verification, and training to the Spruce standard, before work allocation is considered. The full five stages are on the how it works page.

01

Apply once

One short form. “None yet” is a valid answer to the experience question.

02

Get reviewed and verified

Every application is reviewed individually. Verification covers your right to work and basic checks.

03

Train to the Spruce standard

Training or assessment, built around the same checklists used on every Spruce clean.

Apply without the CV gauntlet.

Tell us your area, availability, transport, and the type of cleaning work that interests you. “Not sure yet” is an option too. We’ll review your application and contact you if there’s a suitable next step.

Work is not guaranteed. Allocation depends on demand, suitability, availability, and certification.

Starting out

Questions people ask before their first cleaning job

Do I need my own equipment?

It depends on the type of work. Residential cleans often require basic equipment; commercial sites frequently supply their own. The specifics are covered during onboarding.

Will there be checks or references?

Verification for suitable applicants includes confirming your right to work in New Zealand and basic checks. The specifics are covered during onboarding.

Which work types suit beginners?

Tell us which types interest you, and pick “Not sure yet” if you genuinely aren’t. The mix you’re considered for depends on demand, suitability, and the training you complete.
